The Mission

‘To bring passionate foodies together to celebrate the quality and diversity of Irish food.’

The Festival

Bia Lover is one of the biggest regional food events and attracts thousands of food lovers to Athenry. This Free Family Friendly weekend promises to be a truly enjoyable occasion. The festival centre piece will once again be its’ producer market where food and drink producers showcase their wares. There will be music and dance, a multicultural food tasting, baking competitions, busking competitions, children’s activities and general all round great fun and entertainment.

Now in its 4th year, along with the usual wonderful mix of local food & drink producers, the festival makes a ‘French Connection’ and welcomes approximately 10 wine producers from the Loire Valley in France. No food and wine lover should miss this unique opportunity.

There will be food talks, demonstrations and exhibitions, and the producers are always happy to talk about their passion for their produce and offer tastings.
Based in the Heritage Town of Athenry, and held in the parkland in front of Athenry Castle, this annual summer event is a must for your calendar.

Athenry is blessed in its location just off the M6 motorway from Galway and Dublin at exit 17. It also has a fantastic bus and rail service and everything is within walking distance. There are B&B’s and hotels to choose from should you wish to extend your stay. It couldn’t be easier to visit us this Mid-Summers weekend!

So be prepared to bring either your wellies or sandals, your umbrellas or sunhats – but don’t miss out on Bia Lover 2017!

A great Galway welcome awaits.
