HUGHES SuperValu Claregalway will hold their fourth annual charity wine tasting event on Thursday December 7 at 7pm.

Once again Jackie and Peadar Dolan of Treat Cafe Claregalway are kindly hosting it in their cafe where patrons will taste 12 wines and some cheese, bread and tapas.

This year our charity choice is one very close to us in every sense of the word, the Claregalway and District Day Care Centre who contribute so much to our local community.

The purpose of the CDDCC is to provide a place where the elderly can visit, enjoy social interaction and take part in various activities and educational programmes to enable them to continue living independently.  They also provide a day respite service for carers of people suffering long term illnesses.

We are delighted that Jean Smullen is coming to Claregalway village again to share her knowledge of wines with us – this will be Jean’s third year with us.  Jean Smullen WSET Dip has been involved in the wine industry in Ireland for 26 years and during that time has worked on an ongoing basis for the generic bodies Wines of Argentina, Wine Australia, Wines of Chile, New Zealand Wine, SOPEXA (Food & Wine from France), Wines of South Africia, Wines of Uruguay and ViniPortugal among many others.

A co-presenter for over ten years on Newstalk’s popular wine slot, Movies and Booze with Sean Moncrieff, Jean also writes a wine column for the Sunday World.  Jean has presented wine on television for RTE’s 4 Live and is a member of the Circle of Wine Writers.

It is a fun casual evening with nice food, good wine and interesting conversation so please come along.  Tickets are limited so please call 091 738024, message us on facebook or pop instore to bu a ticket.  Tickets are €15 per person and there will be a raffle on the night to raise solme more funds for CDDCC.
