The AGM of Claregalway branch IFA was held in the Claregalway Leisure Centre.The meeting was well attended and the Co. IFA Secretary John Costello attended the meeting along with guest speaker Maurice Sheehan, local Teagasc advisor Maurice Sheehan gave a detailed account of the Rural Environment Protection Scheme and what Farmers must do to qualify. It is a very worthwhile scheme and most farmers can qualify with very little extra work. He also spoke on the various grants and premiums that are available at present.

John Costello gave a run down on what the IFA is doing for farmers.

The following officers were elected for the coming year. Chairman Gerry Forde, Secretary Seamus O’ Connell, Treasurer Michael Connell.
