Greg Cunningham’s extraordinary rise to the top of Irish soccer continues this week when Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni includes him in the Irish squad for this week’s friendly against Brazil. It is only four weeks since Greg made his debut with the Manchester City FC senior team in their victory over Scunthorpe United in the fourth round of the FA cup.  Greg began his soccer career with Cregmore F.C. training and playing at Cregmore Sportsfield. Greg played on numerous Cregmore F.C. and Galway soccer teams over the following eight years until he moved to Mervue United in the summer of 2004.  In 2007 Greg signed a schoolboy contract with Manchester City.  Since then Greg has established himself as a key player on the Manchester City under 18 and reserve team since his debut with the Ireland as a 14 year old.  Ireland play Brazil in Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in London tomorrow Tuesday 2nd March at 8p.m.

We wish Greg the best of luck from all in Cregmore and Claregalway.
