Science Week / Féile Eolaíochta agus Teicneolaíochta na Gaillimhe

Children in SN Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe participated in science activities for the Galway Science and Technology Festival. The Mad Scientist visited the school with his Air Blast Show and all children participated in scientific experiments. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned about air and air pressure.

Ghlac na ranganna go léir páirt i dturgnaimh eolaíochta leis an t-eolaí agus bhain na paistí an-thaitneamh as na gníomhachtaí.

Rang a Trí and Rang a Ceathar went on a tour of Galway Bay FM and learned how to produce a radio show and how advertisements are created. Some children tried out the station’s technology. There was great excitement when the children met Galway Bay FM’s Keith Finnegan.

Chuaigh Rang a Trí agus Rang a Ceathar go Galway Bay FM an seachtain sin freisin. Bhí turas an stáisiúin acu agus d’fhoghlaim siad conas a chuirtear clár raidió agus fógraí le chéile agus bhain siad triail as an dteicneolaíocht chomh maith. Bhí áthas an domhain orthu nuair a bhuail siad le Keith Finnegan.

Dramaí na Nollag

The children in SN Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe are busy preparing Christmas plays to perform for other classes within the school and for their parents in the lead up to Christmas. They are very excited learning their lines, practising their parts, singing songs and preparing costumes and props. What a wonderful opportunity to display all the work they have done in Music, Art and Drama throughout the school term with the help of their hard-working teachers. Performances include The Sleepy Shepherd, Snowman at Sunset, The Nativity, The Grinch who Stole Christmas and The Conversion of Mr Scrooge.

Carúil na Nollag

The true meaning of Christmas is also very important to the children in SN Baile Chláir na Gaillimhe and they are holding a carol service and dramatising the story of the nativity in the church on Christmas Week.

Children in sixth class are carol singing in the Galway Market next week and members of the choir will represent the school on a visit to Mystical Rose Nursing Home to sing carols for the residents and to present them with the beautiful Christmas cards they have made.
