Hot on the heels of the release of her debut cookbook, Ireland’s best known Japanese cook Fiona Uyema is in Galway this weekend as part of the Galway Oyster Festival. On Saturday she will be signing copies of Japanese Food Made Easy at 12pm in Easons and at 3pm at Charlie Byrne’s Books as part of the fringe festival. At 1.30pm on Sunday Fiona will be in the Festival marquee demonstrating how easy it is create delicious Japanese food yourself.

When choosing recipes for Japanese Food Made Easy, Fiona was influenced by local ingredients available in Ireland, “Like most people these days, when I’m cooking at home I find that time constraints influence what’s on the menu. I have tried to make the recipes in the book as user-friendly as possible without compromising on the taste”.

Fiona spent three years in Japan, where she learned about Japanese food. She has appeared on TV and has featured in many publications, including the Irish Independent, The Irish Times, the RTE Guide, EasyFood magazine and FOOD & WINE. Fiona has taken part in Bloom and Taste of Dublin, she gives cooking classes and demonstrations nationwide.Japanese Food Made Easy is available nationwide from 15th of September, RRP €24.99.
