The Claregalway & District Day Care Centre is a place of socialisation for the elderly of the community, many of whom are isolated, living with dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease or any other ailment that restricts their social interaction. It also provides day respite for carers of people in the above categories.

During each day the service users are welcomed for a chat with tea and fresh baked scones. Arts and Craft activities, card playing, dominoes etc are carried out during the mornings. A hot nutritious meal and dessert is served at lunch time and the afternoons are spent with word games, bingo, music and entertainment. We collect service users from their homes and return them at the end of each day.

We are a self funded group, funded through our Charity Shop Never Too Old, which is run 100% by volunteers.

We have recently been granted approval and funding to build 12 independent living/assisted living residences for the elderly and will include a purpose built day centre in the project. We are currently working towards this goal.
