WITH  a cast of nearly 60, Claregalway 9 Arch Musical Society’s thirteenth production Hairspray  will go on stage in the Town Hall Theatre from November 17 to 19, with a matinee on Saturday, November 19.

Laura Charleton will take on the female lead, playing Tracy and will be joined by the talented and experienced Kevin Griffin, Cathal Ryan, Roisin Fowley, Suzanne Garvey,Heather Doyle, Rob Partridge, and Emma Brady.

9 Arch also welcome back Declan Gardiner, Conor Walsh, Michael Cooney, Karl O’Doherty, Janice Harnett and Annette Cavanagh, along with local girl Sarah Maguire as Little Inez.  There is also a chorus of more than 40, with some local members being as young as 13.

This is a very big dance musical and Jay Molyneux has taken on the role of choreographer.  Jay who is originally from Galway and got his original training here, subsequently travelled the world for ten years,on stage with Carnival Cruises as Dance Captain.

The show’s Musical Director Shane Farrell is currently putting all the cast through their musical paces, while Director Peter Kennedy brings a wealth of experience, having directed musicals all over Ireland.  Peter is aided again by Karl O’Doherty as assistant director.

The show is coming together brilliantly, and everyone will be super fit with the amount of  dancing Jay and Ollie have been teaching, according to Chairperson Annette Cavanagh.

She also expressed the group’s thanks to Alan Mongey, principal of Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, for the use of the superb multipurpose built hall in the College.
