Rockmount Riding Centre, one of the oldest and largest riding centres in the west of Ireland, was established in 1972 by John and Treasa Moore.

Now run by their son David and his wife Verran, it is located six kilometres from Galway city centre on the N17, close to Claregalway village.

Rockmount provides for all levels of riders, children and adults – from the complete beginner to the most advanced rider.  Riding lessons for children are held during the afternoon and on Saturdays, while adults are catered for in the evening.

“We have a large indoor arena, so lessons can go on in the winter until 9 pm.” says David Moore. “We have four fully qualified instructors with years of experience.  Groups and social clubs are very welcome and great rates are available.

“Camps of five days duration are held during the holiday periods for children (improvers to advanced) and there is also a camp for complete beginners.  Different payment options are available, pay as you go per week to paying for a course of 10 lessons and availing of some great offers.”

Rockmount also has a livery yard where clients have the full use of all the facilities, which include indoor arena, outdoor arena, cross country course, and turnout paddocks.

Showjumping liveries, breaking, and preparing ponies/horses ready for sales for inspections, are all services provided.

Springmount Riding Club, The MidWest Pony Club, and Riding for Disabled Galway Branch all use Rockmount as their base, ensuring a busy and lively riding centre.
