The John Dunne Memorial Cup game against Cortoon Shamrocks played at Brownsgrove on Wednesday last went to extra time and the home team won in the end by 0-18 to 1-13. Wet conditions prevailed following a prolonged shower. Claregalway created a couple of good oppurtunities for goals early in the second-half but these were missed and as a consequence our prospects were dented in a game that was closely contested throughout. A point from a last minute free by Paul McGuinness levelled the scores at 0-13 to 1- 10 at the end of normal time. In extra time Cortoon won the breaks around the mid-field and scored five points in response to Claregalway’s three. Eight of Cortoon’s tally were scored from frees.
