Lackagh National School created its own piece of history when they captured the Cumann na mBunscoil, Roinn C, boys football title for the first time when they defeated Monivea at Loughgeorge last week. Lackagh defeated Monivea National School on a final scoreline of 5–11 to 4–11 and it took a last minute goal to secure victory for the Lackagh side. In a tight affair, Lackagh had edged proceedings in the opening half and led by 3–4 to 2–4 at half time. Although Monivea fought back in the second half, they ended with heartbreak as Scoil Bhríde of Lackagh was jubilant when a late goal secured victory at the end.

The victorious Lackagh school team: Ronan McDonagh, Jason Reilly, Dylan Buckley, Conor Finnerty, Conor Fahy, Karl Conneely (1–3), Sean Lyons (1–2), Barry Callanan (1–1), Matthew Lyons (1–2), Josh Buckley (1–1), Thomas Quirke (0–2).
