The boys of St. Vincent’s NS Coolarne captured the 11-a-side Cumann na mBunscoil Hurling title when they defeated Duniry in Loughgeorge on Wednesday last. This was a very enjoyable and well balanced game with skill, speed, team work and some fine hurling from both teams. Duniry opened their account with two points before a point from centre back settled Coolarne. A second probing shot from Coolarne was well saved by the Duniry goalie however, his clearance was intercepted and finished to the back of the net. Duniry then hit back with three goals, but again the Coolarne captain was on hand with two points while a Cian Shaughnessy point restored confidence to the Coolarne team.

A long puck out by Man of the Match and goalie Adrian Dunleavy broke to the corner forward  whose handpass to an incoming teammate resulted in Coolarne’s second goal leaving the score at half time Duniry 3-3 Coolarne 2-4.

The second half began at the same frantic pace as the first, with Coolarne scoring three unanswered goals and a point before Duniry hit back with a goal and three points. Right until the final whistle, little separated these two teams, but Coolarne eventually emerged as victors on this occasion. Final score Coolarne 5-5 Duniry 4-6.
