Galway School SN Chláir na Gaillimhe displayed sublime skill in the Spar FAI Primary School 5s National Finals which took place in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Wednesday 11th May.

Galway was the most successful county in the 2016 Spar FAI Primary School 5s National Finals. The results come after a hard fought campaign which began back in February. The girls qualified for the Connacht finals after a tournament in Salthill Devon. They went on to Castlebar on 27th April to have convincing wins over opponents Cornafulla NS, St Patrick’s NS Drumshambo, St Patrick’s NS Calry and Newport NS.

The 2016 5-a-side Connacht champions from SN Chláir na Gaillimhe then went on to represent Connacht in the national finals at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday 11th May 2016. They were accompanied by staff members and two full buses of supporters from the school. It was a wonderful day out.

The girls drew two of their games against St. Colman’s NS, Mucklagh, Offaly (Leinster) and St Oran’s NS, Cockhill, Inishowen (Ulster). They defeated Dromtrasna NS, Abbeyfeale, Limerick (Munster) 5–0. They became silver medalists and were presented their medals by Jason McAteer [Republic of Ireland player].
