On Monday next a large attendance is expected as local councillor Jarlath McDonagh announces to Turloughmore Fine Gael branch his intention to step down after the next local elections. Jarlath has served the area diligently for the past 28 years and has decided to step down as the local representative. All members and supporters of Jarlath are expected in Flynn’s of Lackagh as he will give his retirement address to a meeting of the branch on Monday night next at 9.30pm.
There already has been huge interest in finding a successor for him in the Turloughmore area with Jarlath’s nephew Michael Francis McDonagh, Branch Chairman Martin Concannon, P.J. Murphy, Michael O’Brien and Frank Kearney among the names mentioned in seeking to replace him as a local represent in the Turloughmore area if elected.
