The line up for the Claregalway Festival of Drama has been announced as the organising committee invite people to join them for eight exciting nights of theatre in our specially constructed theatre.

Each night one of Ireland’s top amateur drama groups will entertain and delight with a performance of their three act play in hopes of winning the All Ireland Drama Finals. Last year almost all nights were a sellout and tickets can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite.

The Festival will open on Saturday March 15th with Bunclody Kilmyshall Drama Group production of “The Beacon” by Nancy Harris.

On Sunday March 16th Glenmaddy Players will present “Class’ by David Horan and Iseult Golden.

On Monday March 17th, St. Patrick’s night Corofin Dramatic Society will present their production of “The Weir” by Conor McPherson (with a warning of Under 18 with parent or legal guardian).

On Tuesday March 18th Sliabh Aughty Drama Group present “Dancing at Lughnasa”by Brian Friel.

Wednesday March 19th Phoenix Players present “Translations” by Brian Friel.

Thursday March 20th will see Upstage Players present their production of ‘The Weir’ by Conor McPherson.

On Friday March 21st Clann Machua Drama Group will perform their production of “The Snapper” by Roddy Doyle.

The Claregalway Festival of Drama will conclude on Saturday March 22nd with Thurles Drama Group and their presentation of “Rathmines Road” by Deirdre Kinahan.

While there are a number of traditional classics, there are also a number of new plays being presented this year. The Festival will take place at Claregalway Community Centre which each year is transformed into a theatre by the hardworking committee.

Tickets are on sale from €15 and patrons are advised to purchase tickets in advance.
