7,000 cycles will pass through Claregalway at 5pm today in the 2014 Cycle Against Suicide. This event aims to convey Cycle Against Suicide’s core message that ‘it’s ok not to feel ok, and it’s absolutely ok to ask for help’. Over 1,000 cycles are participating in the 14 day cycle around Ireland. Together, shoulder to shoulder, we can Break the Cycle of Suicide on the island of Ireland!

12th Galway Cub Scouts planting summer bedding plants at the Day Care Centre. Supporting one’s community is one of the core principles of scouting. The Cubs undertake a couple of community activities every year. The clients of the Day Care Centre will enjoy the colour and smells of the flowers planted by the Cubs over the coming months. While on the visit to the centre the Cubs learned of the range of activities that the Centre offers the older people of the community.
The Never Too Old Charity Shop in Cois Chláir is managed and run entirely by volunteers. More volunteers are needed and essential for the continued success of the shop, which is the main source of funding for the Claregalway & District Day Care Centre. If you can assist in the shop and its workshop preparing items for sale any day from 10am–2pm or from 2–6pm, please leave your name and contact detail into the shop. Donations of clean re-saleable goods are very welcome during opening hours 10am–6pm Monday–Saturday.
Congratulations to Stephen Moore, Rockmount and Merlin’s Magic (Henry) for winning the Grand Prix at the Millstreet International Show on the 20th of April.
Pictured at the World Irish Dancing Championships 2014, which took place as usual over Holy Week, are members of The Corrib School of Dance. They placed 5th in their Freestyle which was a great achievement.
Maree Basketball Club are holding a Monster Auction Fundraiser on Sunday Sunday May 11th at 3pm in the Oranmore Community Centre.
