It is an achievement for a business to stay hot after four decades of dealing in cold, but that is exactly what Whiriskey Refrigeration has managed to achieve. Forty years after Clement and Maura Whiriskey first opened their doors, the company is barely recognisable from its modest beginnings.

Since the move to Cregboy in Claregalway in the 1970s, Whiriskey’s has continued to expand in size, with a showroom, workshop, and well stocked store now part of its makeup. The company now has 25 full-time staff serving its ever-growing customer base.

Whiriskey’s provides commercial and industrial refrigeration as well as air conditioning solutions to customers across the west of Ireland, boasting a wide range of products adapted to suit each client’s needs. Preventative maintenance contracts of equipment are also provided to ensure that air conditioning and refrigeration are kept up to specified standards.

“Although the technology involved in refrigeration and air conditioning has changed greatly since the founding of the company, the basic requirements of the customer remain the same: a quality product and service combined with bespoke design. Meeting these needs of the customer has helped to ensure the longevity of the company,” says Clement Whiriskey.

What makes Whiriskey’s such a success is the family core at the heart of the business. Clement and Maura’s sons David and CJ are fully involved in the business and determined to continue offering the quality service that their parents value so highly.

Outside of the Whiriskey family, four of the current workforce have been part of the business for the last 25 years.

All refrigeration employees are F Gáis certified for the safe handling of refrigerants, and are regularly trained and updated to meet all health and safety requirements.

Whiriskey Refrigeration is open from 8am–6pm, Monday to Friday. A 24 hour call-out service operates all year round. Call into Whiriskey’s showroom, or phone 091 798154 for further information. Alternatively, email [email protected] or visit www.whiriskey.com.
