I am and so many are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden peaceful death and very sad passing of one of Galway’s favourite sons, David Lohan of Lohan’s Pharmacy on Prospect Hill and one of my best friends and my family’s best friends in life. He is the absolute best of gentlemen ever, who never thought twice about going the extra mile or two or three to help people out and gave great kindness, love, trust, friendship and so much care to people, especially to those most in need and he couldn’t do enough for people in need. He is a legend in Woodquay, Prospecthill, Maunsells Park, Galway and in all his families hearts and indeed in all things to do with Pharmacies in Ireland and is a great Galway, Munster and Connacht man. David Lohan is warm and friendly, caring, loving, hardworking, thought provoking and had a fantastic sense of humour to those who knew him well. An innovator, a deep thinker and a passionate, selfless, caring, loving and brilliant man who loved his Family greatly, the Connacht and Munster Rugby Fraternity, The Pharmacy Fraternity and all things Ireland and charity. To all his family and his extended family and friends and neighbours and to all Galwegians everywhere I extend my deepest sympathy and my families sympathy…we have all lost a great good, caring, loving, charitable and amazingly kind person and definitely what is our loss is truly heaven’s gain. David you were the friend who always walked in when the whole world walked away and brought kindness, love, compassion, mercy and real caring whenever it was needed.

Here is a Prayer Poem To and for my dear friend David. A Candle lighting and A Poem of Remembrance to everyone that knew you, especially to your family whom you loved so much, your extended family, your colleagues, friends and neighbours and all the charities and good causes you helped and all the Rugby Families and Sporting Fraternities and all your colleagues and fraternity in Pharmacy and to all the community at your Pharmacy in Prospect Hill and beyond whom you cared for so much and so kindly and diligently … One of life’s true gentlemen and legends…

“Somewhere in the early morning of eternity you are running free on the Fields and Caminos of Heaven with the word “Guide and Good Friend” shining brightly as ever on your back. Loosed from the skirmishes and bonds of earth; unchained from all that bound you here. The years together were too brief, yet who is to measure time? Or how long is long enough. You brought Joy, Energy, Competitiveness, Skill, Toughness, Honesty, Caring, Kindness, Charity, Success, Innovation, Humour, Passion and whispered Hope, To those who loved you most. We cannot fully understand nor shall we try, we simply know that in the vastness of all that is you are running free on the pathways, roadways, prom walks, hillsides, Caminos of all tomorrows. And a lone seagull calls to you and you respond with laughter. You carry now, no burden, no chain, no round the neck or two man rugby tackle nor bond to hold you. You carry only the warmth and the love of those who cared. So run free David and your fellow loved ones who went before you and open your arms and touch the clouds and dance with the morning sun and know that even in our tears we celebrate with you as you enjoy the walkways and caminos of heaven and bid you good journey and great adventures always, till we meet again and we will always love you and thank you for your kindness, caring nature, charity, honesty, helpfulness, talents, experience and passion for all things family, Galway, Connacht, Munster, Sport, education, Charity and Life. Amen” ….Ar dheis de go raibh a n-anam dilis and may you now rest David in God’s beautiful peace on the highways, byways and caminos of heaven…
