The meeting rooms and the mortuary church in Claregalway are to be renamed.  The meeting room will now be called Cairdeas, which translated means friendship, to acknowledge the importance of community and friendships that develop through such facilities.  The adjoining mortuary room, which has been a huge addition to the area, in the grounds of the Church of the Assumption and St James will be called Sioraíocht, which translated means eternity.  There is no doubt it will take people time to adapt to the new names, but they were warmly welcomed by the people of the area when announced last week.
