Night time work to be part of contract for the works at Font(Tuam Road)and Morris(Ballybane)
Cllr Nuala Nolan has been informed that night-time working has been written into the contract for Font and Morris Roundabouts. Cllr Nolan has been concerned about the potential for traffic disruption during the construction phase of the scheme.
For day workers in the Ballybrit Industrial Estates this will at least be welcome news. It will remain to be seen how workers on evening or night shifts will be effected. Cllr Nuala Nolan has been consistent in her opposition to taken away those particular Roundabouts because of the effect it would have on commuters working in the area.
In a time of recession she believes many less expensive measurers could be put in place to insure that cyclists, pedestrians and motorists could be accommodated other than the €6,000,000 project of taking out the Roundabouts. Galway City Councillors have passed the Brierhill, Tuam Road and Ballybane Roundabout change to lighted Junctions so one now has to hope for the best and the transition will be as painless for commuters as possible
