On August 22nd, nine students from Athenry, including Lackagh Comhaltas member and banjo player Saoirse McGreal, will join 121 other second-level students at the top of Africa’s highest peak, Kilimanjaro. The project aims to raise in excess of €100,000 to save 100 lives on behalf of Chernobyl International and the ICU in Crumlin Children’s Hospital. The achievement will also signify a new official Guinness World Record for the most people to summit Kilimanjaro at one time.

It is our pleasure in Lackagh Comhaltas Branch to contribute our annual charitable donation to Saoirse to support her very worthy cause. We wish Saoirse and all her travelling companions the very best of luck with their endeavours.
