Local Councillor Jarlath McDonagh who has announced that he will not be seeking re-election in next year’s local election, has been honoured by Galway Couny Council by being chosen as the new Chairman of the Oranmore Electoral Area for the remaining time of the current Council.

Mayor of County Galway Cllr Liam Carroll paid glowing tribute to Cllr. McDonagh at this week’s meeting of the Oranmore Electoral Area stating that it was only fitting that Cllr. McDonagh should be Chairman for his last year in the Council.  Cllr. McDonagh was then unanimously elected and said that he looked forward to working with both Councillors and officials in this election year.
