Councillor Malachy Noone has today welcomed confirmation from the Roads Department, Galway County Council, that remedial works have been sanctioned to take place at Bawnmore National School over the summer period.

Galway County Council Officials have confirmed to me that this will include the removal of a tree, and a dangerous bend at the cross roads, so as to facilitate the safe navigation for drivers and pedestrians, as one approaches from the Corrandulla direction.

The works will be funded by the National Roads Authority under the Council’s low cost accident scheme.

Commenting on this news Councillor Noone added “This is a most welcome development for the parents and staff of Bawnmore National School. In conjunction with these works, I am hopeful that the Council will allow approval for Notice of Motion monies to be used for further landscaping in order to prevent the over growth of vegetation at the cross roads, which we have seen time after time, with parents and locals having to remove the vegetation in order to keep the cross roads safe”.
