The ‘Never Too Old’ Charity Shop, based in Cois Chláir, Claregalway (behind the Arches Hotel) was established in 2012 and is run 100 per cent by volunteers from the community and surrounding areas.

It is the main source of funding for the Claregalway & District Day Care Centre, a centre that provides a place of socialisation for the elderly, socially isolated members of the community, and those living with Parkinsons, stroke, dementia or other issues that may restrict their social interaction.  The shop accepts donations of re-sellable clothing, bric a brac and furniture and could be a valuable source for Christmas shopping.

The day centre is located in the middle of Claregalway village and this Christmas is playing host to a live crib which will be held on Sunday December 18 between 4pm and 8pm, and is open to the general public.  The participants and animals all have an association with the charity shop and the day centre and are coming together to show their support fo the work of the day centre which currently caters for up to 75 elderly people each week.
