1st Year Hurling:

Our first year hurling panel attended their second blitz of the year in Ballinderreen GAA grounds last week and we were able to field two teams of 15. Both teams performed very well on the day. Our first competitive game was against St. Raphael’s of Loughrea on Wednesday last in Carnmore but unfortunately we were beaten by 4-6 to 1-5 by a very good Loughrea side. Our next game in the competition will be on after midterm.

Forensic Science Workshop:

All of our first year Science students were involved in a two day Forensic Science Workshop that took place in the school at the end of January. Students got a flavour of DNA profiling, ballistics, finger print analysis and many other areas, before trying to piece the clues together to solve a crime.

BT Young Scientist Trip:

Forty of our second year students travelled up to the RDS in Dublin in the first week in January to support our excellent young scientists in the BT exhibition. They spent a few hours looking at the vast range of different projects on show, and hopefully got some great ideas for themselves for next year’s competition.
