Challenge Yourself on the 9th of April for ACT

Galway will once again be buzzing with Athletes from all over the country on Sunday 9th of April 2017 as ACT for Meningitis bring their exciting annual sporting event “Remembering Aoibhe Renville Challenge”, which includes a 5k fully time-chipped run/walk and an exciting 3k/16k/3k Duathlon, back to the picturesque Renville Park in Oranmore, overlooking the beautiful Galway Bay.

Take part in one or both events on the day and thanks to the generousity of their sponsors, DFS & Co Accountants Galway and EducoGym Galway,  every cent of your registration fee goes directly to the charity to enable them to continue to support anyone in Ireland affected by Meningitis while raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of this life changing disease.

There are two separate events taking place on the day, both officially marked and fully time-chipped.  Race day registration for the 5k Run/Walk will open from 9.30-10.45am in the Galway Bay Golf Resort Hotel.  The race starts at 11am following an energetic warm up by the EducoGym Galway Team.  Prizes are awarded to fastest male & female at the finish line and special finishers gifts for all kids registered. The hugely popular Duathlon, supported by Predator Tri-Club Galway, opens for registration at 1.30pm (unless sold out online) and kicks off at 3pm. Prizes awarded for fastest individual male/femal and team.  Futher details and online registration is available at www.iregister.ie/rarc.  Please note, online registration for 5k costs €15 while race-day registration costs €20.  The Duathlon can be entered as an individual (€30) or as a relay team of two (€40).  Online registration is highly recommended as this event sold out last year.  A limited number of free unique RARC’17 sports tops are still available for both events so don’t delay in signing up!

The “Remembering Aoibhe Renville Challenge” is held each year close to the anniversary of precious Aoibhe Carroll, (daughter of ACT founders Siobhan and Noel Carroll) who sadly lost her life to Meningitis in 2008 at just four years of age, but ACT believe this is also a chance for everyone who has lost a loved one to come out and take on a personal challenge in their memory.
