Communities across Galway to benefit from special 60th anniversary Tidy Towns’ Competition funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development

Minister for Community Development, Natural Resources and Digital Development and Fine Gael TD for Galway West and Mayo South, Seán Kyne TD has welcomed the allocation of funding to Galway’s Tidy Towns’ groups as part of a national allocation of €1.4 million to mark the 60th anniversary of the competition.

Commented Minister Kyne: “This grant scheme recognises the hard work and dedication of Tidy Towns’ groups in communities across Galway and the country.

“As Minister for State at the Department of Rural and Community Development I know my department colleague Minister Michael Ring has been eager to support the Tidy Towns’ Competition as its 60th anniversary approaches.

“Under this Scheme, Tidy Towns’ groups across Galway will receive a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000 depending on their category in the competition which will support their work in improving the appearance of our villages and towns.

“Galway is fortunate to have to have 45 Tidy Towns’ groups whose diligent work and volunteering benefits each one of us in the county. Galway’s Tidy Towns’ group will collectively receive €63,000 of the national allocation which is being shared by the 870 groups across every city and county.

“This once-off grant funding is in addition to the funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Competition’s sponsors, Super Valu, and will be a very deserving boost to Galway’s Tidy Towns’ groups.”

Note:

This funding scheme is aligned to the Tidy Towns’ categories.
