For the second week in succession, the parish was abuzz as more Irish titles flooded into the parish of Lackagh – because after the celebration of the U14 hurlers’ All-Ireland Feile na nGael success, a young Waterview girl was the toast of the parish after winning three gold medals at the National Special Olympic at the National Sports Arena in Dublin.

There was much jubilation as Leah Costello arrived back in the parish to a huge gathering at Lackagh village with here three Gold medals in the Rythmic Gymnastics. She has been part of the Tuam Headford Special Olympics Team and had been undergoing intense training over many months and tremendous credit is also due to the dedication of her parents Peter and Lorraine Costello.
Leah took her three gold medals in the Rythmic Gymnastics in the Ball, Hoop and Ribbon disciplines and there was much jubilation among her family and friends.

Leah and her family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the many businesses and people who helped them and supported Leah.

They are also indebted to the teachers, staff and pupils of Lackagh National School and to the many neighbours and friends that came out to support Leah at the homecoming at Lackagh.
The people of the area warmly congratulate Leah Costello and her family on this wonderful achievement.
