Already several tables are booked by former members of Lackagh Macra na Feirme as almost 500 people are expected to gather for the gala reunion in the Clayton Hotel on October 5th.

One of the chief organisers is founding member of Lackagh Branch in 1972 Frank Kearney who has said the response to this event has been phenomenal.

He added that Macra has done so much for people in their lives that followed that people are not alone using this event as a reunion but a thank you to the founding members that changed the lives of so many people who later became successful as a result of the confidence gained through Macra na Feirme.

Macra celebrates its 75th Anniversary and the gala reunion function is becoming a sell out as members of almost all former Macra branches in the county have been seeking tickets during the past week as they take their own table as part of the reunion.

This is a unique opportunity for Macra members to meet again and indications are that it will be a huge success. Over the year Lackagh parish have had three Macra branches, in Cregmore in the forties and fifties, Lackagh in the seventies and eighties and Turloughmore in the nineties.

All generations made a tremendous contribution to the parish and Lackagh parish members are looking forward to the reunion. Tickets have become available this week at a cost of €25 per person that includes a four course meal.

Requests are being made from members to forward any old Macra photographs, where copies would be welcomed by the organisers.

Tickets are available locally from Frank Kearney or John Joe O’Kane or contact 085 1266133 or [email protected] and don’t be disappointed.
