Ladies:

The Clubs Under 16 girls have returned to training under the guidance of Keith and Mark at the new Revolution Fitness and Performance Gym in Roscam. Congratulations to Clodagh Crowley who has been selected on the Galway 2023 Under 16 panel. We wish her and the team all the best for the Season ahead. Well done to the Galway Senior ladies who played and beat Cork in the NFL on Sunday in Pearse Stadium to continue their great start to the league.

Mens:

Well done to Luc O’Connor, Kyle Long and Jack Lonergan who were in the squad for the Galway Under 20’s this past weekend.

Jack Glynn and Conor Flaherty were part of the UL squad that ultimately came up short against UCC in the Sigerson cup final last week. Tough luck on the evening for UL as they lost in extra time.

Conor lined out for UL in the Fitzgibbon cup final and helped UL win out over University of Galway to lift the trophy! Great stuff Conor!

Well done to Conor, Jack and all of our young adults for representing their colleges at the highest levels!

Our Euromillions Syndicate is almost halfway through its’ term and so far winnings haven’t been significant however there are still six tickets and over 6 month worth of draws to play.

You will find full ticket and winnings details on www.claregalwaygaa.net.

Club Development:

Work has been completed to complete the coverings over the stands at the St Jarlaths and Flynns pitch. All three pitches now have covered stands for spectators and covered dugouts! Thanks to all the people that have been involved in getting this work completed over the past while!

A new player gym has been completed over the past few weeks and thanks to all who have spent their time working on this. We hope it will benefit all of our Senior Mens and Ladies teams over the coming years!

It is hoped that work can begin on a fourth pitch in Knockdoemore in the coming month or so. A busy few months ahead!

Referee Training Course:

Galway GAA will be running a beginners referee course for hurling and football referees on Thursday evening March 2nd and Friday evening March 3rd in the Maldron Hotel in Oranmore.

It is important that all clubs try to source at least one suitable candidate within their club to complete this course. As you know we would have no games without referees.

Anyone interested must book a place with the referee administrator by email or phone.

Details as follows: Shane Forde: 086 8076764

[email protected]

Referees will be provided with referee gear on successful completion of the course.

Gear for Uganda:

Paul McCarthy has spent the last number of months coordinating a shipment of secondhand Hurling and Football gear for use by schools in Uganda. Paul has collected numerous items of clothing, hurls, sliotars, helmets and footballs from local clubs and they have been sent out to Uganda. Thanks to all that have made donations and well done Paul for the great work in coordinating this!
