Notice of Club AGM’s 2010. The following Dates and times have been set for the various Club AGMs. The Ladies Club AGM is on Wednesday 24th November 2010 at 8.00pm in the Clubhouse. The Juvenille Club AGM is on Tuesday 2nd December at 8pm in the Claregalway Hotel and the Senior and Executive Club AGM’s take place in the Claregalway Hotel on Sunday 12th December. All members who have children playing in the Club are asked to attend the Juvenille and Ladies AGM’s. Members support is crucial for ongoing club activities and the AGM is a great opportunity to become familiar with the many activities, achievements and plans for the future in each section. The Executive Club AGM brings all the Clubs together and your attendance at this is particularly important. All members are aware of the many developments and work which is currently going on to ensure the future and stability of Claregalway GAA Club.

Medal Presentation Evening: The Juvenile and Ladies Clubs Medal Presentation evening takes place this Sunday from 3.00 to 5.00pm in Claregalway Community Centre. This is an afternoon of celebration for the many successes and great achievements in our Club this year and we look forward to seeing all players from U10 up to U14 in both Ladies and Juvenile Sections come along to receive their medals. Members feedback is also very important to the club and in line with our Coaching Committee recommendations, there will be a comments box at the Centre during the medal presentation evening. We welcome all feedback in relation to coaching and general comments about the Club and all comments are treated with the strictest of confidence. Our Coaching committee will review the comments and any issues will be discussed at our upcoming AGM’s. Club Gear will also be available for sale on the evening at the Centre.

Junior Men: Junior A’s marched on to the semi-final of the Car Parts Warehouse North Board League with a convincing win over Glinsk at Glenamaddy on Sunday last. The score was 1–10 to 0–9. They play Caltra in the semi-final and the winners play Mountbellew in the final.. Conditions on Sunday were calm and sunny and Claregalway got to grips with this game from the start. As a result they always looked likely to run out winners. It took them only 3 minutes to open the scoring, a point by Eoin Feeney and then a goal from Anthony Monaghan following a good move through the field by Eoghan Commins and Peter Divilly. In reply Glinsk scored 2 points from frees. Points by Kenny Hansberry, Anthony Monaghan and a free converted by Eoin Commins put Claregalway in control and they led by 1–4 to 0–2 after 20 minutes. Glinsk hit a good patch coming up to half-time scoring 3 points, 2 from frees, but Claregalway responded with 2 points by Eoin Commins and Peter Divilly to lead at half-time by 1–6 to 0–5. This 4 point lead was mantained through most of the second half and whenever Glinsk scored, Claregalway responded each time. Overall, the display featured many fine moves but a number of good chances for goals were missed. In the backs Michael Evans was always prominent and was well supported by Hubert Newall, Diarmuid Gavin and Keith McDermott.

There was a late change of fixture from the Saturday to Sunday and followers were thin on the ground, so they are asked to turn out in numbers for the semi-final at the weekend, see fixtures.

Team: Robert Moran, Gerry Moran, Keith McDermott, Diarmuid Gavin, Hubert Newall, Conor Costello, Michael Evans, Declan O’Brien, Eoghan Commins (0–3, 2 frees), Peter Divilly (0–1), Eoin Feeney (0–1), Colm Brennan, Kenny Hansberry (0–1), Anthony Monaghan (1–4), Sean Moran. Juvenille: The U12 boys enjoyed a great day out last weekend when they travelled to the Australian Rules Football. A great day was had by all and a sincere thanks to Tony Goldrick for organising the day which was a great success and a fitting end to a successful year of football.
