Heartiest congrats to club player Danny Cummins and the Galway U21 footballers for their sparkling performance and victory over Cavan in the All-Ireland Final at Croke Park on Sunday last. Bonfires, joy, great pride, and the reception by Paul Gill at the Claregalway Hotel all contributed to the celebratory mood that greeted the players, mentors and supporters on their return on Sunday evening.
Starting out with our Juvenile teams that won the City League double in 2002, the U11s in May and the U12s in June of that year, Danny has played with distinction on all our under-age teams. Currently a member of our senior team, he is also a member of the Galway Co. Senior team panel.
Our show of support for the team was very evident on Sunday morning when three buses left the Club and travelled to Croke Park for the occasion, including a number of our team panels, U11s, U-16s and senior.
We thank all who helped with a hastily arranged homecoming on Sunday evening.
Junior As lost to Carraroe in the semi-final of the Comortas competition on Saturday last and the Senior team lost to Moycullen in the final at Spiddal on Monday.
