Galway County Council will officially launch the Healthy County Galway Programme at Claregalway Castle on Thursday next March 15. The aim of Healthy County Galway is to drive local action and promote local leadership for health and ensure that County Galway is a healthy, equitable, resilient and vibrant place for all who live, work and visit. This is part of a series of projects currently being undertaken countrywide which are being funded by the Healthy Ireland Initiative.
Galway County Council Social Inclusion Unit have arranged a wide series of free events which will be catered for throughout the day from 10.30am to 4.30pm. These activities include a series of Nutritional & Health Consultant Sinead Bradbury, and from Suzanne Seery of Croí, Katie Codyre, of the Galway Sports Partnership, among others.
Free health screening and complementary Tai Chi, Laughing Yoga, Zumba, and gentle movement classes will also be available for those who wish to participate on the day.
Sinead Bradbury, who will be presenting at the event and providing Healthy Recipes for the sample healthy lunch to be provided said she believes the best way to reach your true potential is by choosing dietary and lifestyle changes that will enhance your health and wellbeing.
“When you have your body working efficiently and effectively for you, you can get on with whatever it is you wish to do with your life in an efficient and effective manner,” she added.
There will also be a range of related health-focused exhibitors on site, while Cáit Curran will also be available to give demonstrations on how to grow healthy home produce at home.
Galway County Council Social Inclusion Unit invite everyone to attend at Claregalway Castle over the duration of the day and free parking will be provided.
