Just weeks after making lands available for the Lackagh Trail, which is near completion and has quickly become one of the busiest facilities in the community, Frank and Ann Kearney have taken on a virtual challenge in a fundraiser in conjunction with Galway Camogie and Galway Hospice.

The event is being organised by Galway Camogie Boasrd and Ann Kearney is currently secretary of the board.

It is almost fifty years ago since Ann won an All-Ireland Camogie medal and was one of the founders of Turloughmore Camogie Club in 1985. Ann and her husband Frank are taking on a virtual walk to Croke Park. Their aim is no walk at least 200km over forty days.

Twenty percent of the proceeds are going to Galway Hospice, and, with Frank on a cancer journey for almost thre years, these two organisations are both very close to both of them.

It is a huge challenge for Frank who is hoping that his health will allow him complete the challenge. Frank and Ann are mostly using the Lackagh Trail walk, although not officially opened yet and they are hoping that many will continue to support their challenge.

Donations can be made directly on www.idonate.ie/Challenge4Galway and link the Lackagh name to it.

Turloughmore Camogie Club are also taking part in the Galway Camogie Lockdown Challenge 2020 where girls will be running, walking, and cycling 2020km over 40 days.

This week the Under 16s and minor girls along with their management began the challenge and covered a total of 122km between them all.
