Last week at a special function in Loughrea Library, Flynn’s of Lackagh received a special award—a corporate social responsibility award for their great service and generosity to the community over the years. Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan, and County Mayor, Michael Maher, presented the award.

Managing Director, Julian Flynn, received the award on behalf of the Flynn Group. It was recalled in the citation that Flynn’s, this year alone, gave generous sponsorship to Turloughmore Hurling Club, Turloughmore Camogie Club and the new playground of Lackagh, as well as in the past facilitating a site for Turloughmore Health Centre. Of course their most noble gesture of all was in giving two acres of land completely free of charge to the community when no other land was to be had in the Lackagh area.

Councillor Jarlath McDonagh, who nominated Flynns, said it was a great honour for him to nominate them, and said that they were thoroughly deserving of the award.
