The Senior team have once again reached he Quarter Final of the 1998 Senior Championship. They have beaten Ballindeereen, Ardrahan and drew with Abbey-Duniry to reach this vital stage of the Championship. Preparation for this very important contest against Kilconieron is well underway with training every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Training is very tough and is being well attended as every man is fighting for his place on the team as competition for positions is very high. Kilconieron will be no push-over as they are just as hungry for title as Carnmore, but there is great commitment within the club and the lads and the team management are determined to win this crucial game. We wish them every success.

The Junior As have also done extremely well in the Championship. They have won games over Castlegar, Clarin bridge and Sylane. Their next game is against Tohenagh and we wish them continued success in the championship.

The Junior Cs have shown great spirit and determination over the summer months. They have also advanced to the Quarter Final stage of the championship. Well done lads and the best of luck in the forthcoming game.

Carnmore Juvenile Hurling News

In the U14s and U12s, we did not reach the knock out stages of either championship. Our main hope at this stage is the U16s. We lost our first match against Beagh at home in Carnmore, at match most people present thought we had drawn, final score Beagh 2–4 Carnmore 1–6. Nobody could remember Beagh getting four points only the referee, but his word was final, so we lost. We bounced back to win our next two matches convincingly, against Ahascragh and Kilconieron. Our last match—a vital one—against Ballinderrin, has been postponed twice. The winners go through to the semi-finals. Hopefully, by the next issue of Nuacht Chláir, we might have the Ballinderrin match played and won.

Meanwhile, off the playing pitch, the Juvenile Club held a very successful draw in June/July. With all the lottos and other draws/collections around, there were not as many tickets sold as in other years, but everybody did their best—what more could you ask? Thanks to all our sponsors. Thanks to everybody for buying tickets. Thanks to al those who sold tickets. Congratulations to the winners. Hope they enjoy their prizes.

Sponsors for items in draw: Harry Cycles, Bohermore; Brúach na hAbhainn Restaurant, Claregalway; Joe Greene Menswear, Woodquay; Connolly Sports, Claregalway; Dawn Dairies; Oranmore Milk.
