Truly tasty and consistent: these are a few words that describe how Treat Cafe has operated in the Galway area for 12 years via its cafes and restaurants in Claregalway and Lackagh, its canteen restaurant called Stock at Athenry Mart, and its Healthy & Hearty catering outlets in a number of schools.
Jackie Dolan who set up the family business says, “We first set out to provide really tasty home cooked food, with a goal to provide this consistently in all our outlets. We wanted the customer experience to be the same no matter if you visit us once a day, once a week, or even once a year.
“Thankfully we feel we have achieved this goal, not only in the quality of our food but also with a good service experience for our customers. This has been achieved principally by our team who support us in providing a truly tasty and consistent food service. This team has now grown to some 50 people across all parts of the business.
“We strongly feel that any customer who comes through the door at Treat, having made the decision to choose us, for their morning coffee, a lunch, or an event, should leave feeling well treated and satisfied. We certainly hope to continue providing that level of service to all in the coming year with our ongoing passion for tasty food and service. We are really thankful for the wonderful community support we have had from our customers who have kept coming back to us through the years in our cafes at Claregalway and Lackagh and our other catering activities.”
Award winning catering from Treat Cafe- Initially, Treat Cafe developed a substantial catering business to the home market. This continues to be the core of its catering business. In recent years, the business has expanded in catering service to the business community in the Galway region and it can comfortably cater for events up to 1,000 people.

She adds: “We are particularly delighted to bring our Healthy & Hearty brand on the road with our mobile event cafe, not only locally, but nationally, and our extended school canteen services at Colaiste Baile Chlair, Merlin College and Colaiste na Coirbe.”
This has led to Jackie and the Treat Cafe business being recognised on a national basis, winning the award for the National Catering Manager of the Year 2018 by the Irish Hospitality Institute.
The business is open seven days, and invite customers to visit its cafes. The team is confident customers will enjoy the treat.
