Grealish welcomes €2.3m in roads grants for Claregalway
Progressive Democrats TD Noel Grealish has welcomed the news
that Claregalway is to benefit for €2.3m in funding from the NRA
for road improvements.
‘I have long made representations for increased roads funding and I am delighted with
this significant investment in the Claregalway area,’ he said.
The following monies are being allocated to Claregalway:
‘€300,000 has been allocated for traffic calming measures at Loughgeorge. This is an
extremely dangerous junction and has been the scene of many serious accidents over
the years and I am delighted these safety measures are now being introduced.’
‘I am also requesting the NRA to carry out remedial works at the Kiniska Road
junction, in conjunction with these traffic calming measures.’
‘€1.8m has also been allocated for south of Claregalway for resurfacing, pavements and
other improvement works and €200,000 has been allocated for south of Carnmore cross
for resurfacing and improvement works.’
‘This is a significant investment in roads in the locality and I am delighted to have
played a part in securing this funding,’ concluded Deputy Grealish.
Commitment to community facilities for Claregalway
One of my priorities is to facilitate the provision of much-needed community facilities
for Claregalway. I believe that such facilities are essential to meet the needs of the ever
increasing population of Claregalway and the surrounding areas.
I have held a number of meeting with Tony Murphy, County Secretary and Kevin
Kelly, Director of Services for General & Cultural Services of Galway County Council
with a view to purchasing much needed land in Claregalway. I hope to have further
news on this issue in the very near future.
