The Board of Management of Cregmore National School wishes to extend an open invitation to all members of the Cregmore / Lackagh / Claregalway parish communities to attend the official opening of their new school facilities on Friday, June 21st, commencing at 7pm. These facilities include a long awaited school hall, classrooms and resource rooms, along with other ancillary facilities which will cater for the needs of the ever expanding school population now standing at 250 pupils. To coincide with the official opening and blessing, the school children will also launch their recently recorded traditional CD. This project, produced by renowned musician, Tom Portman, features every single pupil from the school playing traditional music and is one of the proudest achievements of the school to date. It highlights the wealth of talent in the area. Teas and Coffees will be served, and it is hoped that the event will in some way acknowledge the tremendous support and generosity of the local community in financially supporting the new building. In fact, the Board of Management recently referred to the financial support it received through local corporate sponsorship and their “Buy a Block” campaign as “overwhelming” with several hundred generous businesses, families and individuals contributing handsomely to their fundraising campaign. So remember to come along and enjoy the evening.
