Mayo, St Jarlaths Credit Union, Tuam, Turloughmore, Corrandulla and Headford and Zurich Life Assurance. Life Insurers & Investment specialists. There are also many sponsors for the various dancers.
In November 40 local people commenced training for the Claregalway Strictly Dancing event and under the watchful eye of a professional dance teacher they are enthusiastically learning their dance steps for the main event. Without their dedication and commitment it would not be possible to stage this event and the organisers are actively seeking business sponsorship (particularly Dance Round Sponsors) to make it a great night and to give due recognition to all participants for their efforts.
We would also ask individuals to support the line sponsorship cards in circulation for the dancers. We would greatly appreciate if you would give consideration to our request for sponsorship for this event which will greatly aid the development of facilities for Claregalway GAA Club.
This event is to help build on the future of Claregalway GAA and the organisers are indebted to the main sponsors, the club officers and members, fundraisers, co-ordinators Joan Curley and Margaret Kearney and the wider Community of Claregalway, Carnmore, Lackagh and Cregmore who always generously support us financially but also for their commitment in establishing, developing and sustaining the club.
Claregalway GAA Club is a thriving club serving the communities of Claregalway, Carnmore, Turloughmore and Castlegar and the club has approximently 30 male and female teams with over 450 juvenile,150 Ladies and 120 adult players.
In 2010 the club commenced an ambitious development program to provide improved facilities for the growing community and membership. This has progressed at great pace and they now have two full size pitches, with a third recently constructed as well as Community, Sports and Social Centre on the 22 acre purchased site. Without grant aid, local sponsorship and generous contributions from members this development would not have reached it present status.
Current Development Phase at the Knockdoemore pitch is developing one of the pitches into an all-weather natural grass/ sanded surface, installing match standard lighting and laying juvenile pitches/training area. They are also providing a lit walkway around the perimeter of the park/pitches which will be a popular health and recreational facility for all the local community. Although they have
received Sports council assistance to aid the development there is a substantial shortfall in funding. In order to bridge the gap a group of committed club members have taken on the task of organising the Strictly Dancing to aid the fundraising efforts.
The Club which was founded more than 40 years ago and has warmly embraced the new and still growing community which has come to settle in the area over the past three decades. The clubs aspiration over the next five years is to facilitate every young person in the community who shows an interest in playing own gaelic games. The clubs facilities in Lakeview in the village and Knockdoemore are open to everyone from every background and creed from walkers to parents to players. It is the intention of the GAA club to be the Number One sporting choice of future generations in Claregalway.
The development plan is always evolving and never ending and all people, young and older, who become members of Claregalway GAA Club are joining a vibrant organisation that will welcome them into a progressive and forward thinking club and Association. They believe that the sense of belonging, identity, comradeship and self-worth which they will experience is truly unique and unequalled in the modern suburban way of life.
