Zumba

On Monday the 19th of September Suzie Doherty and Michelle McGuire opened up Wellfest week with their highly energetic and enthusiastic Zumba classes. Before 9am the hall was set up, the Zumba music was on, lights were dimmed, the disco ball filled the room, brightly coloured gym gear was in sight, and we knew it was time for students to Move it Monday Zumba style. Every hour students rotated to ensure all year groups got a chance to sample Zumba. Students thoroughly enjoyed dancing to the beat of the music on this Move it Monday.

Judo/Circuits

Judo at Colaiste Baile ChlairOn Tuesday the 19th of September members from the Unit Gym demonstrated a scene of Judo moves to the 1st and 2nd year students. Students looked on in amazement at the techniques shown by Colin and his colleagues. Students also got the opportunity to get in on the action and learnt how to take someone down. Students from the school (Ryan Hanly, Ryan Aherne and Adam Burke) showed off their Judo moves demonstrating excellent technique and form which impressed the crowd.

The circuits took place outside in the courts. After a short warm up students did 1 minute on and 1 minute off of each exercise to complete the circuit. Exercises included wall sits, jumping jacks, squats, the plank and jogging on the spot. The cool down was well needed after such an array of different exercises. Students thoroughly enjoyed this outdoor activity.

First Year Boys Football

Coláiste Bhaile Chláir had a fantastic start to first year football with an excellent win over their local neighbours Calasanctius. Coláiste Bhaile Chláir had a very good first half with full forward Jack Dowd hitting the back of the net on a couple of occasions. Calasanctius fought back in the second half with the help of a strong breeze but a later goal from Coláiste Bhaile Chláir secured a deserved win.

Final score Coláiste Bhaile Chláir 7:04 Calasanctius 4:06.
