Claregalway takes pride in its alleyYoungsters in action in the new

NEWLY constructed handball alleys aren’t in plentiful supply around Ireland nowadays, which makes the one in Claregalway all the more of a welcome exception.

The local handball club officially moved into their new alley, on the grounds of the Claregalway GAA club’s now former main pitch, in March. It has all the usual mod cons, but its main attraction is the 40×20 court inside the building.

There’s also a glass back wall to allow spectators to watch the action unfolding, meaning it is perfectly suited for the Four Wall and One Wall disciplines of the game. A maximum of 100 people can file into the seated area overlooking the court.

The Claregalway Handball Club is one of 12 in the county, and its members are by this stage well acquainted with their new surroundings. Just last week, the club’s training schedule got back on track.
