The death has occurred of Denny Hession of Barnaboy, who was the oldest native of the parish of Lackagh. Denny was a quiet unassuming farmer who was also a gifted tradesman. He was born in 1919 when Ireland was still under British rule, and while all his siblings moved away Denny stayed at home in the family farm.  Denny was tasty in what he did and he was also a keen plasterer.  It was fitting that his funeral took place in Brooklodge Monastery as Denny was one of the last survivors to have worked in the building of the Church at Brooklodge.

Denny was a wonderful neighbour and friend and was always hugely respected within the community.

His remains were removed from Brooklodge Funeral Home to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Brooklodge.  Following funeral Mass celebrated by Fr. John O’Gorman, P.P. Lackagh, burial took place in Lackagh Cemetery.

Denny is survived by his sisters Celia and Kitty, Enda and Moira Fox, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
