Knockdoemore:
Friday the 24 th of November represented a significant achievement for our club as we made the final
payment on the loan used to acquire the Knockdoemore Grounds. We’ve successfully repaid €500K
without missing a single payment!
The 20-acre site was acquired in 2009, and through the dedication of numerous officers, trustees,
volunteers, the local business community, and our members, along with a combination of direct
fundraising, grant funding, and loans, we now boast a remarkable facility.
We owe a debt of gratitude to those officers and trustees who foresaw the club’s needs extending
beyond its existing facilities. Since 2009, many individuals have provided financial backing for the
development.
In addition to the initial purchase, we’ve invested hundreds of thousands more in the facility, and our
commitment to improvement continues to this day with a fourth pitch under construction and plans
for other improvements to the facility in the pipeline.

Thank you to all who have devoted their time and efforts into club development on and off the pitch!

Get together:
In 1998 our Junior A team beat Kilconly in the County Final to secure promotion to the Intermediate
ranks for the second time in our club’s history. Four years later (2002), many of this young team
would be the backbone of our Intermediate team who brought the club to Senior level for the very
first time. This team also won the local Junior ‘Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta’ and went on to
represent the Galway Gaeltacht in the National finals in Falcarragh Co. Donegal in June ’98.
On Saturday evening we are celebrated the 25th anniversary of this Junior team’s achievements with
a ‘get-together’ in The Summerfield Bar. Many former players attended – a great night was had by
all!

Well done:
Well done to the Lackagh Comhaltas Under 12 group who took part in the Late Late toy show on
Friday evening.
The ensemble included Saorla Gilmore on drums, Matthew McNena and Éalga Monaghan on flute,
Cuan Gilmore on accordion, Toraí O’Flynn on concertina, Fionn Herwood on banjo, Abigail Kelly
on piano, and Siún O’Mahoney, Anna Finlay, and Juliette O’Sullivan on fiddle.
The band’s musical voyage this year commenced with preparations for Fleadh Cheoil 2023. They
progressed through the Under 12 County and Connacht Céilí Band competitions, ultimately
achieving the prestigious gold medal at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar in August 2023
A number of club members were involved – we were so proud of you all!
