The Knockdoemore Park Plantathon was a huge success over the weekend. Despite the harsh weather early in the week and rain over the weekend the local community turned out in their

droves on Saturday. The sight of over 100 spades in the ground on Saturday morning was a sight to behold. The sound from the workgroups,  which involved several generations planting side by side from Scouts to  Gaelic Footballers ,ladies and male players, Athletes and Foroige teenage members from different organisation resonated a true sense of Community. The organisers, Claregalway GAA, Clare River Harriers Athletic Club, Claregalway 12th Scout Troop, Foroige and Trad Tastes- Traditional Music group Turloughmore, wish to extend their warmest thanks to all of the businesses, families and individuals who bought trees. Thanks also to all of the members of the Clubs, Language, Walking Groups and the local community  who came to help plant. The fact that at least 80 % of the 5,000 trees ,hedges and shrubs were all planted on Saturday is a massive achievement and a huge endorsement of the concept of “Clubbing Together”. Hopefully there will be many more cross community initiatives like this in the future. If anyone wasn’t able to make it over the weekend , they can still book a tree in the Park by logging on to https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.plantathon.com
