The Western Family History Association is a genealogy association based in Galway. It is a self-help group for its members and does not carry out research. The Association holds regular meetings throughout the year where a guest speaker talks about a genealogical topic. There also are other activities such as workshops and excursions to places of interest to members and also a major genealogical event during Heritage Week. Meetings are open to the general public. In addition to these activities the WFHA provides a continually expanding library of genealogical and historical books for members’ usage.
The next meeting of the Western Family History Association will take place in the Claregalway Hotel on the 9th May 2012 starting at 8.15pm. The speaker on this occassion will be Bernard O’Hara and his talk is entitled “Michael Davitt, the Land League and the Land Acts”.
We welcome members and non members to our meetings at all times. Hopefully we will see you there. Please forward this email to anyone that you think might be interested in this very interesting and important topic in our history.
