Some second year students in Coláiste Bhaile Chláir are celebrating Christmas early.
Over the past few weeks students have been making Christmas shoeboxes as part of the Team Hope’s project in which they deliver shoeboxes full of Christmas presents to disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe and Africa.
Students in Coláiste Bhaile Chláir wanted to go one step further and see the journey of their shoeboxes after they were collected. They went on a trip to the Team Hope Warehouse in the Galway Racecourse.
There they saw the volunteers check, fill and pack up the boxes, ready for their long journey to other countries.
The students had a chance to help out and participate in this process by lifting and packing boxes, filling bags with sweets and organising some of the donations of toys and other items. They found this experience very rewarding, educational and uplifting.
Coláiste Bhaile Chláir hopes to continue making Christmas shoeboxes for many years to come.
