This year our school went to Renville for our school trip and it was one of our most successful outings ever. Renville has everything you could need for a group of enthusiastic Montessori children.

The big day arrived and the children armed with buckets, and bouncing with energy set off on their journey to Renville. Our first visit was to the shore where we collected many items to enhance our nature table back at school. After visiting the boats, our next stop was the park. We were all well and truly ready for the big picnic and as usual this was the highlight of the day. The picnic area is well equipped and the playground next to it is one of the nicest we have ever seen. Here the children ran off some energy. The slide and swings were very popular on the day and yes we had a game of football. We had a slightly quieter journey back to the school. Thanks to the parents who helped—a very enjoyable day was had by all.

School Sports

Oh, what fun is our annual school sports. The novelty events we will surely remember. Every child took part and each received a medal.

We have said our goodbye’s to the Class of ’96 having ended on a high note. Paddy the Magician from Quay St. provided entertainment for the children. This was followed by the children’s concert. Their early shyness is long gone. Every child takes part in the concert and we sure saw the blossoming of each child’s personality. Following the presentation of Certificates, refreshments were served for parents and children.

Our thanks to all the parents for their help and support during the year. Thanks to Tony Gately who came along at Christmas, Tony played some Christmas Carols on his guitar. We had a great sing along and it surely got us into the Christmas spirit. Thanks to Santa who paid us a surprise visit. Our thanks also to Garda Pat Heneghan who called to the school and had a chat with the children. Yes, we had a few volunteers to join the ranks.

As always, the end of year brings a certain sadness with the children moving on, it is like a member of a family leaving but they are not gone forever, they all return to see us. So September is approaching, bringing new children on their first step outside the home and we look forward to meeting them and their parents.
