The Claregalway Senior Citizens’ Association held their Annual Dinner tonight in the Claregalway Hotel. The Dinner was a resounding success and was well attended by over 100 local senior citizens. A most entertaining evening of music, song and dance was enjoyed by all as was a surprise visit from Santa!

The Claregalway Carnmore Senior Citizens is a voluntary group run by a Committee which sought to be a group that organised events for and by the Senior Citizens of Claregalway and Carnmore. Since its formation in 1982, the group has grown in strength and from a small begining of an Annual Christmas Party the group now organises several annual tours, trips, Christmas Party and a weekly social night.

Seniors from the Claregalway and Carnmore area attended the Dinner after Mass in Claregalway Church, celebrated by Fr. Seamus Nohilly. Father Seamus remembered Canon Noel Mullin, who passed away earlier this month, at the Mass.

Entertainment was provided by Gerry Kennedy, who had the crowd on the dancefloor all night.

Activities continue each Monday night at 8 p.m. in the Parish meeting room where cards and bingo are played There is a free bus service available each Monday night which is provided by Bealach. Contact any committee member in your area should you wish to come along.
