Bawnmore National School celebrates its 150year Anniversary this year. Celebrations begin on Saturday, June 15th in the Claregalway Hotel. The event begins at 8pm, with the first part of the evening featuring local musicians and dancers, who are either current or past pupils of the school. This will be followed by finger food, a disco ‘til late and, of course, a raffle with some great prizes. All profits from this event will be donated to the school for the purchase of laptops, which will enable the school to continue providing computer programming classes to 5th and 6th Class.
It promises to be a lovely evening, where those attending can enjoy local talent; meet with fellow parents, past pupils and parents in a relaxed, informal, atmosphere; and dance the night away while supporting their fantastic school. Hotel Westport kindly donated a door prize of 2 nights B&B in their hotel. Tickets for the night are priced at €15 and will be sold door to door over the next week in the school catchment area. They will also be available from Mary Duffy (087 9505183) or Valerie Conway (086 3207202).
The Celebrations continue on Friday, June 21st with mass at 11am in Lackagh Church, followed by food, music and entertainment in the school. The children have been busy preparing for this day and are looking forward to displaying their talents to the people of the locality. To enable us to cater for numbers please phone the school on 798600 to let us know if you are attending.
